I can't remember when I first picked up a pencil to draw, but I did it all through my childhood. I fantasize that I would grow up to be a fashion illustrator or designer. In college, I studied visual arts which added another dimension to the fashion illustrations I did on my own. After college and a few jobs which didn't suit me, I was given the chance to be the assistant to a high fashion jewelry designer. I developed my own technique for drafting technical drawings for model makers and honed my skills at creating jewelry by hand, as well. I did this work for 20 years.
However, my life would to make a 180° turn when a catastrophic fall left me paralyzed and unable to use my hands. I fell into a dark abyss and thought that life was not worth living as it had become. I wanted to be done.
But with the help of splints, Velcro straps and the support of friends, I am able to create again. Art, which has always been a part of my life, rescued it. I have a reason to get up every day and express myself through these images.
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I had realizing them.
